James Valentine, a member of Maroon 5, got his signature guitar from Ernie Ball Music Man in 2015. The instrument features a slab body, coil-split pickup, hardtail bridge, and roasted maple neck, accentuating its playability and paired with a timeless classic vintage look.

As part of the development of the guitar, we designed its logo, representing the artist in a very personal way. We asked James to provide us with different samples of his autograph. The selected signature required minimal intervention – just enough to ensure its legibility.

The design work matched the instrument’s vintage-inspired look. Today the Valentine guitar is one of Music Man’s strongest performers; with sold-out models and new finishes still being introduced. Appealing to players looking for versatility in sound and sophistication in design.
