Home of the Harmony Valley Creamery, the 2.5-acre town is nestled between rolling hills and the Central California Coast. Founded by Swiss immigrants, Harmony was known for its dairy co-op that served San Luis Obispo County from 1901 to 1970. After its closure, the town became home to young counterculture artists enamored by its rural setting and laid-back culture. In 2014, the Vander Horst family purchased the land and reopened the creamery.

Harmony has experienced many ups and downs, and the reopening of the creamery brought a much-needed boost to its economy. As part of the process, we created a logo that pays homage to the dairy days while looking toward its future. The project started with research on Harmony’s history and the pursuit of symbols to represent it graphically.

The inspiration came from the land of pastures, Highway 1, and the old truck that delivered the products along the Central Coast. The result is a vintage-inspired, eye-catching, yet modern branding that again positions Harmony as a favorite stop along the world-famous Pacific Coast Highway.
